Volunteer teaching to help the poor women community in Ho Chi Minh City

Overview

The project aims to help the poor women in education to improve their working skills and bring them a chance to get much more chance to have better English level.  This project will help and focus on the women who are from the poor family, we provide them jobs opportunity by making handicraft products and bring them to learn much more English to and the non-formal education to improve their own working skill to achieve the requirement of working and contacting with the partner who use their product all around the world. The main language they can use to contact with partners will be English, then, for a long time of helping hand from volunteers, we hope that the poor women group that we help they will have a basic English skill, that is enough for them to use in their work and to learn the new technologies that they need to practice and apply in your daily work.

Voluntary activities

We need Native or near native English speakers who willing to support the local community development. Volunteers are required to teach Basic English for local women and let them understand and can use the English basically. If you are the first time teaching English, a training course will be taken place for you around 2 days, then you will know about the material and also the level of the local women. You will teach them step by step and slowly and simply. During the working time, they will need you to show and to say the words of each product and help them directly on the products with English words, will be very helpful lecture. Other than that, the lecture about the culture of the other country will be very good and useful to them to understand the culture and how to treat the guests they visit the shop and warehouses. Beside teaching tasks, you can participate in the producing activities with the handmade products, this will help you to learn the local culture and also bring a chance to help them by your hand.

Leisure activities

You will leave and work at the local village at the out skirt of Ho Chi Minh City. Besides the working time, you will have a full time of weekend with two day longs. This will be enough time you take a rest to visit the Ho Chi Minh Centre. There are a lot of place you can visit by taking a public bus of motor bike trips and enjoy your time. Even in the place you live and work, the country side also very beautiful and peace. A bike trip around the village will help you to have good health, or pure your soul. The village is not a tourist place but they still and always remain the folk culture with many special songs, when you live there, a lot of live show about the folk culture will be organized, it will be a good chance for you to be insight into the South Vietnamese culture. 

Location

The project based in the village at out skirt of Ho Chi Minh City. This is a Social Centre where host the local poor women. The Centre is far 35 kilometers from the Ho Chi Minh City Center. They provide the career opportunity for poor women, training them how to work and let them work in an social enterprise. This is a gift from the NGOs for the poor women to improve their life sustainably.

Requirement: Good health, Native or near native English speaker; Age: from 18 to 60 years old.

Duration: At least two weeks to one year
